We designed a Toolkit for the Legal Action Center that helps people who have substance abuse disorders and need help getting their health insurers to pay for mental health or addiction treatment.
The 100+ page document includes an overview of the federal parity law, a description of additional protections under NYS law, a decision tree for readers to figure out what type of insurance plan they have, an overview of each of the 11 plans, a section on what people can do if they think their rights are being violated, and a glossary.
